Subaru Getaway: New three-row all-electric SUV

The all-new, all-electric Getaway is a supersized SUV option and the most powerful production Subaru ever. With plenty of room for the whole family, it is the fourth electric vehicle in Subaru's growing EV portfolio.

Getaway combines blistering dual-motor performance, all-weather confidence, three-row versatility, and forward-thinking technology. Designed for rapid escapes and long-distance road trips -- whether you are commuting across town or taking the whole family on a weekend blast through Yellowstone -- the Getaway bridges the gap between zero-emission driving and legendary capability.

Set to arrive at retailers nationwide in early 2027, this flagship electric SUV gives family buyers everything they need: seating for up to seven, standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, over 300 miles of available range, and an exhilarating 420 horsepower.

The 2027 Subaru Getaway proves that eco-conscious driving doesn't require sacrificing excitement or capability. At the heart of the Subaru Getaway is its dual-motor configuration, with high-output electric motors mounted on both the front and rear axles. Together, they generate a combined 420 hp, catapulting this full-sized family SUV from 0 to 60 mph in under 5 sec. The instantaneous torque delivery ensures effortless highway merging, quick passing power, and dynamic responsiveness across all driving conditions.

At launch, the Getaway will feature a long-range 95.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, engineered to provide an available driving range of more than 300 miles on a single charge. The SUV comes equipped with a standard North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, providing direct access to more than 25,000 Superchargers across North America without needing clunky adapters. Utilizing DC fast charging at speeds up to 150 kW, the battery can replenish from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes. Subaru includes a standard on-board preconditioning system that automatically optimizes battery temperatures before reaching a charge station. This guarantees reliable, high-speed charging performance even in frigid climates down to 14 F.

Subaru will expand the Getaway lineup in 2027 with a standard-range variant powered by a 77.0-kWh lithium-ion battery. Paired with standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, this model offers a lower entry price point while retaining full all-weather performance. Full specification and pricing details will be released closer to its official market launch.

Unlike many urban-focused electric SUVs, the Getaway stays true to Subaru's adventure-ready heritage. It is built from the ground up to conquer rugged trails, unpaved backroads, and severe winter weather. Features include:

• 8.3 in. of ground clearance: Provides the clearance necessary to navigate deep snow, rutted trails, and rocky terrain with complete confidence.
• Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive: Electronically managed dual motors deliver instant torque vectoring to the wheels with the most traction, maintaining precise stability on slippery surfaces.
• X-MODE Dual-Mode System: Features specialized settings tailored for challenging conditions, including: Snow/Dirt Mode, Deep Snow/Mud Mode, Grip Control (maintains low-speed crawling performance over rough obstacles), and Downhill Assist Control (manages braking automatically on steep declines).
• 3,500-lb towing capacity: Fully rated to pull utility trailers, small boats, campers, or recreational gear for family outings.

The name Getaway was specifically chosen to emphasize this SUV's family-first versatility. The interior balances passenger comfort across all three rows with expansive cargo volume. Depending on the selected trim level, buyers can configure their Getaway to fit their family dynamics:

• 7-passenger layout: Features a comfortable 60/40 split-bench seat in the second row.
• 6-passenger layout: Features plush, standalone second-row captain's chairs for added luxury, and an easy center aisle pass-through.

Subaru engineers maximized interior space, offering generous headroom and legroom that allow 6-ft-tall adults to sit comfortably in all three rows -- a rare feat for midsize electric SUVs.

Accessing and adapting the interior space is simple for daily errands or packed road trips. Specs include:

• One-touch second-row folding: Allows effortless, single-button access to the third row for kids and adults alike.
• Power-folding third row: Easily stows the rearmost seats flat at the push of a button when extra cargo capacity is needed.
• 45.6 cu. ft behind the second row: With the third row folded down, the Getaway offers 45.6 cu. ft. of cargo space -- outperforming competitors like the Kia EV9.
• 15.9 cu. ft behind the third row: Even with all seats upright, the rear cargo area holds up to 15.9 cu. ft. of luggage, groceries, or sports equipment.

To keep every passenger comfortable over long journeys, the Getaway offers a wide array of thoughtful interior touches:

• Dedicated cup and bottle holders placed at every seating position.
• Three-zone automatic climate control paired with dedicated third-row air vents.
• Multiple clever storage nooks throughout the cabin designed specifically for tablets, smartphones, and personal items.
• Standard heated front seats, with available options for heated second- and third-row seats, ventilated front and second-row seats, and a 360-degree heated steering wheel.

The 2027 Getaway adapts Subaru's next-generation EV design language into a commanding, family-sized silhouette that seamlessly blends modern style with functional aerodynamics. Along the front end, a standard illuminated six-star logo modernizes Subaru's iconic badge, paired with dynamic daytime running lights that serve a dual purpose: illuminating the road ahead and acting as a clear visual indicator of charging status when plugged in. For inclement weather and off-road excursions, dedicated headlamp washers ensure crisp nighttime visibility by effortlessly clearing away mud, salt, and slush.

Moving along the profile, clean bodylines and flush door handles deliver a sleek, contemporary aesthetic while actively reducing aerodynamic drag to maximize driving range. Depending on the trim level, expressive 19- or 20-in. alloy wheels lend the SUV an athletic, grounded stance, while standard robust ladder-type roof rails on most trims provide versatile storage options for heavy roof boxes, kayak racks, and bike mounts. At the back, a three-dimensional illuminated Subaru logo rear gate garnish works alongside a distinctive lighting signature to give the Getaway a bold, enhanced nighttime presence.

Inside, the Getaway offers a standard 14-in. Subaru Multimedia touchscreen and a 12.3-in. digital instrument cluster. The generous interior passenger space is punctuated by a large, fixed panoramic sunroof on specific trim levels and multiple interior storage areas for tablets, phones, and personal items. Heated front seats are standard on the Subaru Getaway, and heated second- and third-row rear seats, ventilated front and second-row seats, and a 360-degree heated steering wheel are equipped on certain trim levels.

Every Getaway is equipped with a suite of EyeSight driver-assistance technologies, including Pre-Collision Braking, Blind Spot Monitors, Lane Departure Alert, Emergency Stop Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and more. Certain trim levels also include Front Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Park Assist, digital rearview mirror, and more.
